Police in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (125 miles to the Dells) were called to the local Walmart on Wednesday in what hopefully will go down as one of their strangest calls of the decade.

The police posted on their Facebook page that they arrived shortly before 8:30 PM to a report of a theft in progress. They found the suspect, 46 year old Lisa Smith, in the entryway screaming and trying to catch her dog Bo, who had been running loose around the store. Smith had been acting erratically, pulling apart store displays and putting them in her cart, at which point she was asked to leave.

Smith initially did leave the store, heading to the parking lot to perform karate moves.

You read that right–karate moves in the parking lot.

Meanwhile, Bo was still in the store–and he got ahold of a box of Jiffy Cornbread Muffin Mix and tried to leave the store. Which is apparently when the police arrived, finding Smith in the entryway trying to get the dog–but ended up getting herself arrested in the process…after which she fought with police officers and attempted to kick the window out of a squad car.

While all this was happening, Smith’s son–25 year old Benny Vann–had actually made his way to the back of the store, and removed all of his clothing in view of other customers. He gathered up new clothing from some clothes racks and put the clothes on (I’m assuming), but without purchasing the items–and when officers approached him, he attempted to run over an officer with his scooter. The officers were able to stop the scooter and place Vann under arrest.

In all, Smith was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, while Vann was arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, Disorderly Conduct and Retail Theft. And as the PD added to the end of their post–Bo was caught by officers and brought to the Humane Association, but didn’t face any charges–just a warning for theft.
