We’re not trying to say that extreme binge drinking isn’t a bad thing, that it isn’t dangerous, and that it should be encouraged or even condoned.

But at the same time, we were surprised to see (in a Minnesota paper, nonetheless) an Associated Press article earlier this week about campus police at University of Wisconsin-Madison finding two unconscious, extremely intoxicated students.

In one case, the young man had a BAC of 0.36. In the other, completely unrelated case, the young man had a BAC of 0.351. Neither was of legal drinking age. In both cases, the students were apparently found alone.

In other words, unfortunately, probably just another weekend at UW-Madison.

In all seriousness, though, this would seem to indicate a bit of a problem.  Where were the friends to help them out? To help take care of them? To maybe get them to stop before they hit 0.3 BAC?

I’m obviously no expert on what the administration at UW-Madison may (or may not) be doing to try to curb excessive binge drinking…but whatever it is (or isn’t), it doesn’t appear to be working…
